Rock, Blues, Good Guitar Playing and Feeling.

Every guitar player is on a quest for their own style, something that makes them unique, or stick out from the crowd. There are so many of us our there now with our own influences and music. In the last few years, I have gone back a bit to my roots as a player. Mostly out of necessity as my cover band played more places that excepted the blues etc.

I learned to play the guitar during the hair band days, so there is still this element of that I can still hear in may playing, and I don't mind it. Those were great and still are great players. They just got a bad rap because of the hair make up and the endless songs about partying. The blues though, the blues! Why such a passion for this style. For me it is a feeling, a freedom to put feeling into the music. That is what blues is about. Not only a quest to find the right sound but the right feeling in the song. When it is done right for me it is like wow. That is why Stevie Ray Vaughn was so popular with guitarists. Was he the best blues player? I don't know, but I do know this. He put heart and feeling into playing the guitar, and I think that is what matters with any style you play, any instrument you play. You put your heart into it and people are going to get it, relate to it and feel it.

Anyway, here is a tune by a guitarist named Robben Ford. This is my attempt at trying to play with less effect and a little more feeling. I am glad I found this minus track because it is very fun to play over. Enjoy. You non guitarist might like this also, especially the dorky guitar faces I pull during it.
