People Amaze Me

If there is one thing I have learned in life, it is to not judge a book by it's cover. Over the weekend Me, Afu and Reed played for a benefit that some bikers were putting on. Every year they get together and ride their Harley's and raise money for children that were abused by their parents or gaudian, and who's parents are now in the prison system. There were prayers said and you could feel a lot of love in the room. This year it was cold and they had been riding in the rain so they moved it inside to one of the pavilions at the Cache County Fairgrounds. The foundation is called BACA. Bikers against child abuse, and this event was called The Children's Justice Center's Teddy Bear Run.

These stuffed animals go to the children. I was talking to one of the guys in charge and he says that when a young child is taken into foster care or taken away from there parents or guardian, the first thing they do is to take the children into a room that is filled to the brim with stuffed animals, and they get to choose one. I thought this was pretty cool. He said that it is so neat to see these children's faces light up when they see all these stuffed animals and get to choose one.
All these bikers looked tough, but they had hearts of gold.

By contrast, that same night we packet up all our equipment and played a wedding up at Deer Valley for a girl who was or used to be on the US ski team. It was very nice. This gig was kind of funny because there was a wedding planer girl there that was making sure everything happened on the dot and she even had and itinerary. She was pretty uptight. Roger MC'd the wedding. Way to go Roger!
