Austin Weyand in the studio Jam Session then Interview.

So Austin is a finger style guitarist that does not live to far from me, and he has been doing some video work in the studio, but one day we had a little jam and caught some of it on video. He writes cool stuff for guitar. Go check out his vids on youtube if you get a chance.

Friday recording Paul Christiansen

Me nerding out.

Paul, shaking his egg through a tube mic

The Guild

Paul is from my wifes hometown, great musician. Every now and again, he lets me play some guitar on his tracks. He usually has it all figured out. He always brings new guitars into the studio which is fun for the guitar geek in me.

Nerd file
Api - on the kick and snare, with 57's
Rode and Oktava mics on Vox and guitars and everthing else into a meek and SSL pre.

Here is what we did today if you want to listen.

Whirlwind................

Wow, summer has come and gone, kids back in school and me still staying just as busy with my day job and my night/side job as a musician. I am not sure if I am ready for the winter to hit, it seems to bring me down a little.

Poor little Misha busted her teeth all up in an accident but is doing better, Greyson is walking and Saige is getting cuter everyday. Not looking forward to the teenage years.

I should say I am lucky enough to keep just the right busyness lately. My day job, my music job, and my family life are all very well balanced at this point, at least to me. I don't think I could do more. Playing weddings, bars, parties, teaching guitar one or two nights a week, and getting to record some talented musicians is a great side job. Added to my 40 hour a week day job, it can be a little much some weeks though. It is a blessing and it is also nice to have a weekend off from the craziness, but I guess I am lucky to have it seeing as I live in northern Utah.

Right now I am just waiting on something to change. I have had my house up for sale for almost a year now, with no luck. This housing market thing is a mess and now with all the ATK layoffs in Box Elder county who knows if we will ever sell it. At least it is giving me an opportunity to save some money, while we wait for the right buyer to come along.

Time has sped up for me, must come with getting older or being busy. Anyway, boring post, not that anyone reads this blog anyway.

Lame Country Vid

Submited this to some contest on CMT. Only real country song I have ever written. The only thing cool about it is the guitar. Anyway, have a good laugh. Here it is.

Today

This is a new tune I have been working on called "Today". This video is basically the first time I have played it all the way through. I've been helping one of my guitar students learn to write songs and it has motivated me to start writing again. This is a rough live demo.

Rains In Asia

A quick demo of my harmony pedal. You plug your guitar into it and it knows what harmonies to create according to what guitar chords your playing while you sing.

Oh, by the way this song is from a band called "Jump, Little Children", never heard of them until I heard this song, but liked the tune so I figured it out.

New Song called "Down Again"

I wrote this tune about 13 years ago, but the recording turned out better than I thought. I am actually proud of this song, because it came from a real place.
