Guitar Sound

I am getting closer and closer to the sound or tone I want out of my guitar and amp. But I think it is a constant quest.

I was playing around with this little track the other night. It's a slow bluesy track that is in C and A minor. It's a very fun key signature to play in. You can still hear my faster shred/jazzy fusion side of my playing, but I like how this track lets you do that while still maintaining the blues roots in the music. There is a lot of talk about only using tube amps these days to get good sounds. But this is a hybrid amp that I used, it uses solid state technology and tubes to produce the tone or sounds. I think it sounds pretty good and it feels pretty close to how a tube amp would feel. Plus it uses 12" Celestion speakers to get the real speaker sound I am after and I think it helps. For you non guitarists. Celestion speakers are the kind used in the most popular amps for the last few decades. Marshall, Fender, Vox, Mesa Bogie.

The amp I am playing though is called a Vox. The Beatles used to use this brand of amp. So I think Vox has a good track record.

I am still trying to figure out what makes good tone. I thinks it is when the high notes don't hurt your ears and the low notes are not to muffled. The tone has a rounded smooth sound to it even when you kick up the gain and play more aggressively.

Ok, I've nerded out long enough. Here is the video of me playing with it.
