Music and Studio14

A few years ago I started buying recording gear and other musical instruments so that I could record my own music. I never thought it would turn into a little project studio where I would be recording other musicians, but I have been busy with a lot of projects other than my own. Over the years I have produced about 10 CD's for other musicians, done some commercial work and have had a lot of fun. Through all this I have had to learn to how produce music, learn to arrange music, learn about song structure and song writing, learn about new technologies, learn to play bass and a little keyboard. I like technology and what it can do, but for the most part I just love playing music and recording it.

Every now and then the kids will come in and act interested in what I am doing. I have recorded a couple of songs with my daughter, but it will be interesting to see if it will be something she will have a passion for as she gets older.

Here is a little promo video I made one night when I was bored.

New Guitar

This is me testing out my Fender Stratocaster through my new VOX amp. The VOX amp has a lot of really good amp sounds in it. It models a lot of old and new amps. It also has some very bluesy sounds, which I am into lately.

People Amaze Me

If there is one thing I have learned in life, it is to not judge a book by it's cover. Over the weekend Me, Afu and Reed played for a benefit that some bikers were putting on. Every year they get together and ride their Harley's and raise money for children that were abused by their parents or gaudian, and who's parents are now in the prison system. There were prayers said and you could feel a lot of love in the room. This year it was cold and they had been riding in the rain so they moved it inside to one of the pavilions at the Cache County Fairgrounds. The foundation is called BACA. Bikers against child abuse, and this event was called The Children's Justice Center's Teddy Bear Run.

These stuffed animals go to the children. I was talking to one of the guys in charge and he says that when a young child is taken into foster care or taken away from there parents or guardian, the first thing they do is to take the children into a room that is filled to the brim with stuffed animals, and they get to choose one. I thought this was pretty cool. He said that it is so neat to see these children's faces light up when they see all these stuffed animals and get to choose one.
All these bikers looked tough, but they had hearts of gold.

By contrast, that same night we packet up all our equipment and played a wedding up at Deer Valley for a girl who was or used to be on the US ski team. It was very nice. This gig was kind of funny because there was a wedding planer girl there that was making sure everything happened on the dot and she even had and itinerary. She was pretty uptight. Roger MC'd the wedding. Way to go Roger!

The Life of a Rock Star/Band Hospitality

Last Friday night the cover band I play in(Gearhead) had about an hour or so before we were supposed to go on stage at USU. Someone said, "Hey lets make a run to Cafe Rio." Then Afu our bass player said, I think they have food upstairs for us. When we got up stairs there were rolls, chips, bottled water and a veggie tray. No meat? I'm still craving some Cafe Rio. If you look close you can see Afu still looking for the turkey ham etc..................

To USU's credit, in the past they usually have Fire House Pizza or subs.

I just wanted everyone to know that my CD's are now on Itunes. I think this is pretty cool.

Review by John Hesch, owner/operator of Kzion.com
"In the pop/rock category I really like Mission Stories by Rich Bischoff. Although not a real rock album, Rich has a rockers voice and as far as I’m concerned everything he does is first class. Farm Boy has long been a favorite of KZION listeners. Anyone who takes the time to listen to the lyrics of Farm Boy will be a Rich Bischoff fan. Mission Stories also has some real fun songs like I’ll Let You Drive and Green Apples. I never get tired of listening to Mission Stories."
